Unimaginable Experiences for 44 Years

What an amazing experience my 44-year career has been working for the public power system of Nebraska. In 1977, as I was working in an auto body repair shop in Mitchell, SD, at what I thought would be my lifelong career, I heard about power line work and decided that this would be a very rewarding career. I never could have imagined the events I would experience and the many acquaintances I would meet over the next four decades. Looking Back at April’s Major Storm

While most of April was rather windy, the storm that hit the District at the end of April caused widespread damage in our territory. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-Hastings, in Fillmore County there were consistent straight-line winds of 70-85 miles per hour (mph), with pockets of 90 plus mph wind gusts. York County had lesser wind speeds, with consistent wind speeds at 58 mph and pockets of wind gusts in excess of 60 mph.
